Cheesy Egg Soufflé

A filling Egg dish reminiscent of the Ottoman era

  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 ½ c. Milk
  • 1 c. Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
  • 3 Green Onions, chopped
  • Dash of Black Pepper
  • Pinch of Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1/8 tsp. Salt
  • 1/3 c. Butter
  • 8 Slices Bread

 

  1. Beat Eggs.
  2. Mix in Milk, Cheese, Onions and Seasonings.
  3. Place Butter in 8×8 glass dish and melt in the oven.
  4. Brush melted Butter on top of each slice of Bread.
  5. Layer half of Bread on the bottom of the dish.
  6. Pour half of Egg Mixture on top.
  7. Layer remaining Bread on top of that.
  8. Pour on remaining Egg Mixture.
  9. Bake at 375oF for 18-20 minutes.

    Our family enjoyed this lovely dish for breakfast, but it could also be enjoyed for brunch on a relaxing weekend.
    Be sure to have some Red Pepper handy on the table, too, as some of us favor a bit extra. 🙂
