Sweet Semolina Dessert

  • 2 ½ c. Milk
  • ½ c. Semolina Flour
  • ¼ c. Sugar
  • ¼ c. Butter
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
  • Cinnamon for garnish
  • Coconut Flakes for garnish
  • Berries or Nuts if desired

  1. Place Milk, Semolina and Sugar in a small pot on the stove to heat. Use a whisk to stir occasionally until it boils. Then time for 3 minutes before removing from heat.
  2. Stir in the Butter and Vanilla. At this point the mixture will have started to thicken so it may be better to use a spoon instead of the whisk.
  3. At this point you want the mixture to cool to room temperature (about 15 minutes) before serving. There are several ways to do this:
    • Pour the mixture into an 8×8-inch glass dish or bundt pan. When cooled use a knife and spatula to cut and serve.
    • Pour the mixture into small individual glass bowls or shaped dishes. When cooled turn the bowls upside down and gently shake the dessert onto a plate for serving.
    • Leave the dessert in the pot to cool to room temperature before using an ice-cream scoop or cookie-baller to create the nice round mounds when you are ready to serve.
  4. Sprinkle cinnamon and Coconut Flakes on top of each piece to garnish before serving. If desired, you can also use berries or nuts on top. This dessert is best served fresh and still with a hint of warmth.

Whisking while the Milk, Semolina, and Sugar begin to heat

As the mixture cooks it begins to thicken

I poured some of the dessert into individual-sized glass bowls to cool

After cooling, I popped the dessert out of the bowls & garnished with cinnamon, walnut and coconut flakes before serving

The rest of the dessert I left in the pot to cool and then used a cookie scoop to form little balls before garnishing with cinnamon and coconut flakes and serving
